We are looking to appoint a highly motivated staff scientist to join Roser Vento-Tormo’s group at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
You will be integrated in the Vento-Tormo lab, a highly collaborative, international work environment with well-experienced colleagues in single-cell and spatial data production, use of in vitro models, analysis and methods development (http://www.ventolab.org/ style="box-sizing: inherit; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; padding: 0px 2px; color: rgb(89, 127, 186);" target="_blank" title="* this link opens in a new window/tab">">www.VenToLab.org ). You will be responsible for the development of novel genetic engineering tools to be applied on multiple in vitro models available in the lab, working closely with the Bassett team (https://www.sanger.ac.uk/group/cellular-and-gene-editing-research/ style="box-sizing: inherit; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; padding: 0px 2px; color: rgb(89, 127, 186);" target="_blank" title="* this link opens in a new window/tab">">https://www.sanger.ac.uk/group/cellular-and-gene-editing-research/ ). You will generate new synthetic constructs that regulate gene expression or alter genomic sequence during in vitro differentiation as well as develop novel genome editing tools to record lineage tracing. You will have the opportunity to be embedded in and supported by a large community of experimental and computational scientists with access to the world-leading computational and experimental facilities at the institute.
Vento-Tormo’s lab research interest is to understand the influence of cellular microenvironments on individual cellular identities and responses, in the context of development and immunity. The team employs single-cell and spatial transcriptomics methods to deconstruct the cell signals in human organs and tissues, and utilise this information to inform the reconstruction of novel in vitro models. The lab is based at the Sanger Wellcome Institute (WSI) a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, innovative institute in Cambridge (UK) and works closely with other teams single-data within the cellular genetics program and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) to advance in the genomics field.
