The Department - Study Support Team 

The Study Support Team have 4 areas of activity. These include: 


  • Providing Pre-sessional courses and monitoring and guiding international students to ensure they are receiving support and advice at all stages of their relationship with UWL 


  • Providing academic support to all UWL students through workshops and 1:1 appointments 


  • Providing a Peer Mentoring Service which can meet the needs of a diverse range of students studying at all levels 


  • Providing Functional Skills maths and English opportunities 


The Role  

Working within the Study Support Team, the postholder will be required to work closely with all related teams and services, including international recruitment, teaching staff, the international student experience coordinator and various Schools and Colleges. The role will require supporting students and the relevant teams to coordinate and deliver English courses, supervising the enrolment and progression onto courses and monitoring and supporting international students as they begin and progress through their degree courses. The postholder will be required to record all information to the relevant data sets and liaise with staff to update on activity. 

The post holder will also support the wider work of the Study Support Team, when required. This may include providing administration support including monitoring the Study Support inboxes, maintaining databases, and supporting promotion and the wider activities of the Study Support Team. 

The Person 

You must be qualified to at least honours degree level or have equivalent/relevant work experience. You must have experience of working in an education or support related role, ideally in a HEI setting and with non-native English speakers. You will need to be able to develop highly effective working relationships with staff and students and ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the international student journey from recruitment, EAP and related courses and onto and through their degree courses.
