Applications are invited for a highly organised, motivated and experienced individual for an Biotechnology Small Research Facility (SRF) Coordinator within the Centre for Medicines Discovery.
This SRF provides cloning, protein expression and production capabilities to the CMD, groups within the University and customers within industry around the world. This is a unique and unusual opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding team which is focussed upon providing capabilities which are amongst the best in the world.
In addition to providing expert molecular biology and protein production innovation and support, you will manage and coordinate the biotechnology SRF pipeline, scheduling and prioritising work to ensure that deliverables and milestones are met. Working with the PI for Biotechnology, providing accurate cost estimates for projects will also be a key aspect of this role. You will also handle day to day communication with customers ensuring that they receive a high-quality service.
You will manage the work of up to 6 team members and be expected to establish best practices, working independently to achieve ambitious deadlines and goals.
You will have a PhD with proven academic or industrial track record in molecular biology or biochemistry to coordinate the Biotechnology SRF at the Centre for Medicines Discovery (CMD). Experience in managing a team of people and multiple projects in parallel is essential. You should have significant experience in cloning and in recombinant protein production across bacterial, insect cell and mammalian systems. Experience in a genome-based or other parallel work environment or in protein engineering is a clear advantage.
This position is a fixed term contract until 31 July 2023 and is funded by the Department.
