Who we are

We are East London Sport (ELS) at University of East London (UEL). We encompass all of UEL’s sport and physical activity offering, ranging from High Performance Scholarships to our Moves+ app.

A key focus for us is ensuring students have access to physical activity for both the physical and mental benefits, and through our newly launched Active Campus we aim to provide something for everyone. We also have the SportsDock gym, to which students have free access.  A key part of this role is marketing projects such as these that aim to help improve student, staff and the community’s health and wellbeing.

We’re looking for a driven, enthusiastic, and creative Sport Marketing Officer to join our team. You’ll play a key role in helping us succeed in driving participation in physical activity, promoting ELS’ offering and achieving our Global Sport Strategy.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own and deliver the marketing plan across online and offline channels to a range of audiences including students, staff and public.
  • Develop engaging, impactful copy to support promotional activities.
  • Maintain and create content for social media channels, with a particular focus on video.
  • Create targeted email communications.
  • Brief and work closely with internal and external teams including our design time, media agency, photographers, and videographers.
  • Manage and monitor campaign activity, responding to market needs and adjusting where necessary.
  • Work with teams and stakeholders across UEL.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of ELS, SportsDock and UEL offering, and wider understanding of the market.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Experience in marketing role.
  • Ability to create engaging content and copy across a variety of online and offline channels.
  • A passion for and experience in creating video content for social media.
  • Experience using email delivery software and marketing automation, ideally Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Excellent written English and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Experience planning and prioritising work to meet deadlines, whilst pro-actively working with others to achieve team objectives.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver, always looks for innovative ways of doing things.
  • Understanding of and interest in sport, health, and fitness industry.
  • Dedication to and understanding of equality and diversity issues.
  • Please download full job description for more detail.

In addition to a role that gives you support and opportunities to develop you’ll get…

  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays.
  • Attractive pension scheme.
  • Flexible working policy.
  • Generous parental leave policies.
  • Access to SportsDock gym.
