VACANCY FOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

The Department of Economics of the University of Cyprus accepts applications for the employment of one Special Scientist (Research), for part-time or full-time employment for the purposes of Dr Eleni Aristodemou start-up funding.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Data Science/Econometrics or Statistics or Mathematics or Computer Science or Economics or a related subject with experience in applied research.
  • Excellent knowledge of Econometric/Statistical Methods.
  • Very good knowledge of scientific programming in econometrics/statistics using e.g. STATA, R.
  • Very good knowledge of English (written and oral).
  • Solid character, trustworthy, high level of responsibility, with organizational skills.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in one of the above areas will be considered as an advantage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Amongst others, the main responsibilities will be:

  • (Panel) Data Analysis using statistical/econometric techniques.
  • Dealing with Big Data using programming.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The employment will be on a full-time or part-time basis, for up to 12 months. The monthly gross salary ranges from €870 to €2100 (depending on employment duration, working hours and the qualifications of the employee), from which amount, employee contributions to the various governmental funds will be deducted. There is no provision for 13th salary.
