Overview

Job context

In 2015, Queen Mary University of London became one of the first Higher Education Institutions in the United Kingdom to deliver a Degree Apprenticeship programme. The Faculty of Science and Engineering has been instrumental to Degree Apprenticeship delivery and innovation within the University since this time, providing programmes to a diverse range of employers including a number of leading international financial services firms and banks, global pharmaceutical firms, national retailers and IT/technology companies.

As the UK Government doubled down on its commitment to create non-traditional routes into training and employment, Queen Mary continues to expand its portfolio of Degree Apprenticeship programmes to help meet the talent, capability and skills needs of industry.  

The Faculty of Science and Engineering comprises of five Schools that deliver the research and education activity of the Faculty. The Faculty has a wide range of key interactions with partner organisations, including with overseas partners, other Government departments, research and education networks, funders and regulators. The role sits within the Professional Services job family and the role holder is expected to be an active part of the University’s support staff family, working with academic colleagues across a wide range of responsibilities to help deliver its academic mission.  

Job purpose

Sitting within the Faculty of Science and Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Team, the post holder will undertake a range of duties to support and coach L6 and L7 Degree Apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours to successfully complete their apprenticeship. This post will also be responsible for leading tri-partite meetings with apprentices and employers.  This is a hybrid role, with opportunities to work at Queen Mary’s Mile End Campus, London City Institute of Technology and remote working.
