An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) to join the Upper GI team as a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse.

E5b is an 18 bed acute surgical ward which specialises in Upper GI Surgery for the region. We provide emergency and elective care, utilising Enhanced Recovery Pathways to ensure that our patient care is effective and is of the highest standards. If successful you will join the team and help manage a small team of nurses, working closely with our Multi Professional Team.

Candidates should be forward thinking, have the ability to manage and demonstrate a sound innovative leadership style alongside advanced clinical assessment skills. We are looking for an individual with a drive for high standards of care, with strong leadership. Excellent communication, decision making and motivational skills are key qualities for the job. We are committed to staff development with excellent education opportunities. Therefore candidates will need to demonstrate continuing personal development and a commitment in developing others and have an understanding of how to provide safe high quality of care to our patients and their family.

Requirements include significant post registration experience in acute surgical / critical care environment. Working towards your degree or masters pathway is desirable.
