The Marketing team at York is responsible for brand, visual identity and content production across print and digital media for internal and external audiences. The team works across five key areas of brand development, student recruitment marketing, research and reputation, student experience communications and staff engagement. We work in partnership with colleagues around the whole organisation to create high quality solutions and services to help achieve institutional and departmental goals.


You will take the lead on design and user experience across the University of York website, a high-traffic platform which plays an essential role in many of the University’s core business areas.

You will work in a cross-functional team with other digital specialists to create attractive and highly usable digital experiences which enhance the University of York brand and meet the needs of our users. You’ll be involved in digital projects at all stages, from initial research and prototyping through to final designs and testing with users.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Expert knowledge of user experience design best practices and research methods
  • Expert knowledge of principles of visual design
  • Extensive experience of creating digital designs for high profile websites and other platforms
  • Experienceof running user research and testing
  • Experience of working with other designers, developers and content editors within a project team
