We are looking for a qualified and committed Senior Tutor in Business, Humanities and Social Sciences to join the Centre for English Language Education.

Centre for English Language Education (CELE)

Since the development of the Nottingham-Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high quality EAP teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China. With over 112 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of the largest of its kind in the world and is currently supporting students on UNNC Preliminary Year, Pre-Sessionals, summer schools and In-sessional language and academic skills support programmes.

Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified educators and leaders having both managerial and teaching experience in higher education relevant to the position.

Successful applicants must have a Master’s degree in Business, Economics or Humanities/Social Sciences and excellent English language competence. Substantial university level teaching experience in international settings is essential, with proven experience in course/academic project development and management, leading teams and prioritizing work to strict deadlines. The successful candidates will also directly line manage up to 10 individual academic staff and be responsible for carrying out classroom observations of teaching, as well as conducting annual staff performance reviews. Delivery of teaching on credit-bearing content modules (including convenorship) will also be required. This is a teaching-only position with no working time allocated for research.

Salary will be within the range of RMB 429,906 – RMB 566,105 per annum, depending on skills and experience, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The posts will initially be offered on a fixed term contract for a period of 3 years starting January 2023 (later starts for exceptional candidates may be negotiated). This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement. All posts will be based in Ningbo and contracts will be with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
