Job summary

To support our sustained growth in applied research and consultancy we are seeking to appoint a Senior Transport Analyst / Asset Management Specialist (equivalent to Senior to Principal Consultant) to join the Transport Strategy Centre (TSC) at Imperial College London.

You will be part of a friendly, supportive team of ~ 30 committed professionals, who work together to conduct high-quality work that makes a real difference to our clients and stakeholders worldwide.

The successful applicant will have an especially strong engineering background/experience in infrastructure asset management. Technical expertise in metros, railways, utility industries is essential. Experience working in/with industry is essential, either directly for operators, infrastructure managers, authorities, or indirectly in consultancy. This post involves carrying out projects for transport operators and utility asset managers, including railways, metros, airports, telecommunications, etc. The post-holder will often use international comparative analysis to generate advice/recommendations for senior management. You will gain exposure to the many facets of asset management at both a technical and strategic level. 

We are a multidisciplinary team of people from consultancy, industry, and academic backgrounds. We work with over 120 organisations worldwide, including operators such as Transport for London and Hong Kong MTRC and international institutions including the World Bank. We help top world’s organisations to improve their performance, based on the identification of global best practices, collecting data for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and using annual performance benchmarking.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will review, support, and champion aspects of projects related to asset management/technology.
  • You will advise and support organisations in good practices relating to asset management and the implementation and use of technologies.
  • You will synthesise and summarise large qualitative and quantitative datasets, identifying trends, exceptions, accuracy, and comparability with the view to interpret results and draw insights/recommendations.
  • You will work independently and collaboratively to deliver research and consultancy, taking responsibility for managing small projects.
  • You will work closely with organisations to understand their needs, develop strong relationships and deliver research and consultancy that aids the management of their companies.

Essential requirements

  • You will be educated to at least an undergraduate level degree level (or equivalent)
  • You will be educated in a discipline with significant numerate, technical content, such as engineering, or with equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • You will have direct general experience with transport and/or utility industries. Prior work in academia not necessary.
  • You will have direct experience in engineering, technology, and/or asset management processes or projects related to rail, metros, and other transport or utilities assets.
  • You must have specific knowledge of asset management processes and methods.
  • You will have strong analytical skills, and the ability to conclude from information and datasets.
