The School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences, King's College London based at St Thomas' Hospital is looking for a Senior Technician to be part of a team that manages the School's Workshops/laboratories and equipment at St Thomas' Hospital.

The main responsibilities are to ensure safe and effective use by all researchers using the workshops/labs and equipment, to help implement safe and effective working practices among users, train users in safe use of specialist equipment and workshop/laboratory practices, support and contribute to workshop experiments particularly where technical analytical expertise are required. The Technical role will also support the team to ensure efficient running of all workshop facilities including purchasing and budget management, Induction of new users, help support/promote Safety, and oversee daily smooth running of facilities to ensure research activities are supported.

A minimum level 4 qualification (e.g. higher apprenticeship, HNC or other Level 4 award), plus work experience in a relevant technical/scientific post or considerable knowledge and skills gained through relevant work experience in a relevant technical or scientific post is essential. Good computer skills, an in-depth knowledge of a range of technical or scientific practices, methods and procedures applicable to work area, sharing best practice and a broad understanding of effective approaches to train and teach individuals in methodologies and techniques is also essential.
