Salary

Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £25,110 to £28,763 per annum, with potential progression up to £35,951 per annum


About the Role

Development and maintenance of first-class teaching and industrial-scale research facilities is key to delivering the University strategy, alongside the need for strong and flexible technical support, which enables academic staff and researchers to deliver contracts to quality, time and cost, and to deliver teaching informed by our research.  The facilities mission is, ‘To provide an efficient, effective, flexible, financially secure and safe set of facilities to meet the research (and teaching) needs for all users while providing an environment which encourages excellence and innovation in our research activities.’

This role will provide premier technical supportto Energy and Power stakeholders, using relevant technical skills to deliver funded research work and teaching and working in partnership with technical colleagues of all levels to ensure effective operation of the Theme as a whole.

About You

You will have significant technical expertise with practical experience gained in a materials testing environment with analytical equipment such as GC-MS, TGA, bomb calorimetry and porosity instrumentation.  You may also have experience preparing samples for electron microscopy or use of instrumentation for structural integrity.  You will have well-developed troubleshooting skills and be able to competently develop academics outline plans into physical testing capabilities.  

You will be a motivated individual, someone who wants to deliver technical research and teaching in a safe, high quality, highly productive working environment. You will have an aptitude for learning quickly. You will be an excellent communicator and able to work with a wide range of people.
