About the Role

This post focuses on providing technical expertise in the design, operation, and maintenance of a cryogenic fuel test rig within the Gas Turbine Engineering Laboratories. The role will involve being the first point of contact for analysis, problem solving and faults finding in a complex novel installation. At certain times it will be necessary to implement configuration changes or upgrading the test rig. This will involve coordination with other parts of the university, stakeholders and/or external contractors.

About You

You will be educated to HNC/D level in construction management, mechanical or electrical engineering (or relevant engineering subjects) and have experience managing small or medium multidisciplinary teams. With excellent communication skills, you will have expertise in the fields of power plants, gas turbines, and/or thermal management (industrial refrigeration/heat pumps). and a background in cryogenics fuels would be an advantage. You will be confident in developing and maintaining Risk Assessments, documenting methods of operation and working independently with tools and workshop machinery, with knowledge of manufacturing process and material selection & an understanding of non-destructive methods of inspections.
