Our dedicated Teaching Fellow team are subject specialists focused on delivering student education, which is active, social, applied, and inclusive within our vibrant and varied education environment.

The School of Health and Care delivers an extensive range of undergraduate and post graduate courses for professionals working in health and social care settings including; nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, paramedic science, operating department practice, diagnostic radiography, clinical psychology and public health. We also have a large portfolio of CPD courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including Advanced Clinical Practice, Independent prescribing and Global Healthcare Management.

The Role

We are looking to recruit a Senior Teaching Fellow who will lead the development of integrated health and care curriculum for both undergraduate and postgraduate level courses within the physiotherapy portfolio.  You will work alongside the wider health and care course teams to support the development and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment within the direct entry and apprenticeship physiotherapy course and contribute to the quality monitoring and enhancement.

As Senior Teaching Fellow in physiotherapy you will undertake teaching and module leadership while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programs with innovative teaching and learning approaches to enhance student experience.  You will contribute to curriculum development by actively participating in School’s Curriculum Review and Transformation. Senior Teaching Fellows lead on aspects of the learner experience including the leadership of staff teams.

Based within the School of Health and Care you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

Qualifications Required

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate subject and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
  • Registered Physiotherapist with the HCPC
  • A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous

Our Successful Candidate

You will need to be a HCPC registered physiotherapist with demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education and/or substantial clinical experience and expertise one or more areas of physiotherapy practice with an ability to contribute to teaching across the curriculum including non-specialism specific areas.

You will be an experienced team leader who is enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with high-quality presentation skills, ability to mentor and coach other members of the team.

You will demonstrate good level of digital fluency and have experience creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching.

You will have experience in the development and enhancement of an ‘active learning’ pedagogy as appropriate to the physiotherapy education and practice.
