Applications are welcomed for a Senior Scientist to join the world famous structural biology teams at the Centre for Medicines Discovery, and play a major role in shaping the future of the discipline.

As Senior Scientist in Rare Diseases and Structural Biology, you will contribute to directing a team of post-doctoral scientists, technicians and graduate students, who specialise in the structure and function of proteins involved in rare diseases. Reporting to the Head of Structure, Function and Genomics, you will play a leading role in establishing a rare disease initiative that reflects and reinforces the Nuffield Department of Medicine’s leading strengths in the fields of neuroscience, oncology or immunology.

You will hold a Ph.D. or DPhil in a relevant scientific subject and have post-doctoral experience in structural biology. You will have an established (inter)national reputation, applied to a relevant rare disease area. You will also have the ability to generate and manage major collaborations to expand the scope of research, as well as an aptitude for leadership, technical supervision, and staff management to mentor and inspire both junior and senior researchers. In addition, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to present research and represent the Centre for Medicines Discovery at international meetings.

This position is a fixed-term contract until 30 April 2025 and funding is provided by the European Commission.
