The role

The post is to oversee digital imaging pathology activities to support immuno-oncology research projects within the Section of Oncology led by Professor Adam Frampton. 

The focus is to undertake a range of research activities within digital imaging pathology, assuming responsibility for specific areas of research projects, making use of new research techniques and methods, supporting students with their IHC needs and use of digital pathology which includes giving advice/ instruction on the use of software for digital pathology and managing large data storage requirements. 

What you will be doing

  • Working in consultation with a senior research fellow within the group, using initiative and creativity to identify areas for research development using new research methods to extend the spatial biology research portfolio. 
  • Analysing and interpreting research results to assist in the preparation of papers for submission to appropriate journals and conferences, and other outputs as required and/or appropriate. 
  • Attending appropriate conferences/courses will be encouraged for personal development and to continually update knowledge and develop skills, translating knowledge of advances in the area into research activity. 
  • Carrying out administrative tasks associated with the maintenance of digital pathology technologies within the lab, ordering of reagents and SOPs for implementation of correct procedures including adherence to HTA guidelines. 
  • Occasionally be required to supervise more junior research staff.

About you

To be successful in this position your will need to have:

  • At least a bachelor of science degree in a relevant discipline and have the required skills based on a number of years’ experience in the digital imaging pathology field. 
  • In particular, the use of Akoya Biosciences PhenoImager and knowledge of digital pathology software such as InForm or QuPath is required. 
  • You will have authority over some aspects of project work and must be capable of providing academic judgement, offering original and creative thoughts and be able to interpret and analyse results.
