We welcome applications for this exciting new Senior Research Fellow post. The work undertaken in this role will support a funded international project considering future hydrogen propulsion concepts and the impact of system design on Hydrogen leakage, ventilation and safety.

About the Role

This post will be contributing to research on a project as part of a large team, while leading key aspects of it. It involves research activities within the Centre for Propulsion and Thermal Power Engineering, especially focusing on the development and application of novel numerical methods/tools to design and assess ventilation and safety systems to cater for hydrogen leakage on future aircraft propulsion systems. The analysis will further support and inform experimental research on the subject. The role requires a very strong background and experience in numerical analysis and theoretical design using CFD software, and will be focussed specifically on the safe application and utilisation of hydrogen. As part of the role you will also be expected to contribute to new research proposals on the subject as Co-I, with the possibility of also leading it as PI.

About You

To be appointed at Senior Research Fellow level, you will be educated to doctoral level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject with the necessary technical knowledge and demonstrate significant experience (likely to be a very established Research Fellow) in hydrogen safety related research. You will also have extensive experience in working with industrial partners, composing project deliverables, delivering effective presentations, and be actively involved in project integration workshops and other meetings. With excellent communication skills, you will also be a thought leader while also being a good team player and have the ability to cope with pressure. Exceptional project planning & management is also an important skill for this senior post, along with the ability to demonstrate high levels of self-motivation, perseverance, and initiative.
