About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Oncology as a Senior Research Fellow in Medical Statistics/Data Science/Epidemiology.

You will play an important role to work at the forefront of medical research using very large linked clinical research databases and at the interface between epidemiology, medical statistics, data science and clinical medicine.

You will be responsible for providing support for a range of research activities with a strong focus on prediction modelling and survival analysis in the context of cancer and obesity. This will be achieved through the analysis of routinely collected electronic health records from the QResearch electronic and NHS England Systemic Anti-Cancer therapy (SACT) health databases linked to hospital, mortality and cancer registry data and similar databases.

You will be responsible for checking and manipulating datasets for analysis and, will carry out complex statistical analyses and present the results for discussion and interpretation and will lead on the preparation of manuscripts for publication and the drafting of reports to funding bodies.

About you

You will hold a PhD/D.Phil in medical statistics, data science, clinical epidemiology, health services research or similar subject with a strong numeric component with significant experience working as a medical statistician/epidemiologist.

Have Strong publication record with at least 5 publications in high-ranking medical journals and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field.

You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research projects and methodologies. You will have Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings
