Please note that as of 1st September 2022 our colleges and schools will be moving into a new structure which will consist of the following three Faculties – Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, (to include the Medical School),  Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy, and Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

Summary of the role

The post

Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG) wishes to recruit a Senior Research Fellow to lead and support systematic reviewing and health economic modelling as part of health technology assessment projects; project management and leadership; research group management 

You will be responsible for leading HTA assignments from NICE and other stakeholders as an expert in the range of methods used in HTA, including leading and managing multidisciplinary teams of systematic reviewers, epidemiologists, statisticians, health economists, information specialists and clinical experts in producing responsive, high-quality outputs under strict deadlines.  You will have significant leadership and line management responsibilities in supporting a team of systematic reviewers and health economists, including training and development of staff to support career progression through publications and grant capture. 

You will have a key role to play in leading day-to-day operations of the unit’s contract with NICE, and in supporting development of new business.  This will require substantive expertise in systematic reviewing and health economics as applied to the HTA process, and as evidenced through a combination of academic qualifications and work experience; just as importantly, it will require extensive documented experience of successful project management. You will support senior staff in PenTAG in forming links and relationships with other systematic review groups and other groups more broadly within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

About you

The successful applicant will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and will be a nationally recognised authority in the area of HTA, and possess in-depth understanding to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field. The successful applicant will provide academic leadership to research teams, lead and develop internal and external networks and develop links with external contacts in order to foster collaboration and generate income.
