Senior Research Data Manager

The Primary Care Epidemiology Group at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care is looking for a maternity cover for a Senior Research Data Manager to work alongside a team of clinicians, programmers, epidemiologists, researchers and data scientists to undertake novel research to improve the early diagnosis, prevention and management of various diseases and medical conditions including COVID-19. This post holder will work at the interface between epidemiology, medical statistics, data science and clinical medicine. They will enable high impact original quantitative research using very large primary care databases of electronic health records linked to hospital, mortality and cancer registry data.

We are seeking an experienced senior data manager to facilitate access to the QResearch database for research projects. The post holder will capture requirements, manage, transform and curation of electronic health record in readiness for large scale data analytics and modelling. In addition, the post-holder will generate written documentation such as reports to funders and internal policies/guidance documents. The post-holder will be based within the Primary Care Epidemiology Research Group, reporting to Professor Julia Hippisley-Cox. The post holder will work closely with a wider team of programmers, clinicians, clinical researchers and administrator in multiple departments within the Medical Sciences Division.

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate qualification or equivalent in a scientific or health related field; experience of data management e.g. data processing, data cleaning, data manipulation and a high level of attention to detail in order to deal with and process large complex datasets. As the team expands, the post holder will provide guidance to other members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers and users of the QResearch database. This position is a maternity cover and limited to 12 months.

You will be based in the Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG.

The position is funded by the CRUK Oxford, Innovate UK, BRC and NIHR and is anticipated to shortly after the 1st of August 2021.
