Applications are invited for a Senior Research Assistant to work as part of a team evaluating whether a Quality Improvement Collaborative (QIC) delivered alongside a national audit leads to improvements in care.

The successful candidate will have relevant topic and methodological experience proportionate to the level of post advertised, and ideally experience of undertaking research with an implementation focus.

Required skills will include evidence of skills in empirical research involving primary data collection using qualitative and mixed-methods data collection and analysis, and the ability to publish work in high quality peer reviewed journals.

The work will describe how implementers engage with the QIC intervention overall to support improvement activity and how context influences this work. The work will assess fidelity of delivery, receipt and enactment of the QIC intervention and describe how teams enact tailoring. The successful candidate will be working alongside colleagues involved across the randomised controlled trial and evaluation, and be involved in collecting data for the economic evaluation. The work will also involve liaison with national leads for diabetes care. As such, the ability to engage with collaborators at all levels of seniority, across different regions and specialisms is important.

You will be self-motivated, have excellent communication and writing skills. A relevant Masters degree is desirable. The ability to code data using Behaviour Change Techniques is desirable, although training can be given. We are looking to appoint ambitious individuals who are willing to work supportively within the Implementation Science Group at Northumbria University and beyond, including the Audit and feedback Metalab.

The appointed person/s will be based in the Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University, Coach Lane campus. The ability to travel within and beyond the UK may be required.
