Senior Research Administrator/Coordinator

The role will provide administration support for DTP and executive support for the director and manager, design and prepare a range of documents and publicity material, organise events and contribute to and develop social media activity. The role holder will work as an integral member of a small team managing the GW4+ Doctoral Training Partnership based in the School of Earth Sciences, University of Bristol. The Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) has been active since 2014 and currently provides funding for around 100 PhD students in the Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences at the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Cardiff University as well as five research organisations.

You will co-ordinate the training within and support administration for a Doctor Training Partnership (DTP).  You will gather and support the DTP Director, Manager and Management Board in analysing data on PhD student training and recruitment, best practice and pedagogy to support a bid proposal for further studentship funding.

You will organise, plan, and support PhD student conferences, workshops and training events including health and safety risk assessments and monitor and respond to feedback.

The role-holder will take on responsibilities for promoting the DTP’s recruitment opportunities, explore diverse networks to better promote DTP studentship opportunities, and survey and report on the effectiveness of student recruitment and publicity campaigns.

The post holder will contribute to and develop social media activity (e.g. web updates, social media, newsletters, mailshots) about research activity. You will create, curate, publish and moderate web content, newsletters, blogs and other publications of students’ scientific achievements.

You should have event management experience, including taking responsibility for planning, management and completion of events. You will have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office suite applications. You will have the ability to manage data and information efficiently and securely, ensuring compliance with GDPR. You will have web and social media literacy. You will work in a dynamic and constantly changing environment, under pressure and will be expected to be tactful, diplomatic and collaborative.

It would be beneficial if you had knowledge in PhD recruitment or training or experience of working in a scientific or research-oriented environment. Design, or creative skills of knowledge are desirable.

Contract type: Open ended with fixed funding until 16/01/2026 beyond that subject to renewal of DTP funding.

Salary: £29,605 to £32,982 per annum
