Senior Programme Manager - Oxford-GSK IMCM

Applications are invited for a Senior Programme Manager to join the newly established multidisciplinary £30 million Oxford-GSK Institute for Molecular & Computational Medicine (the Institute) operating from the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. The Institute will bring together the very best scientific, clinical, technological, and computational expertise from Oxford University and GSK to form unique industry/academic partnerships.

As a Senior Programme Manager, you will provide overall operational leadership, and financial control and drive productive interactions between Oxford, GSK, and other strategic partners within the Institute. You will be a highly visible and respected source participating in setting both strategic objectives and solving practical issues with senior scientists and administrative colleagues in Oxford and GSK. You will develop strategies, standards, and policies in support of the Institute's objectives and in response to the research priorities and aims of the multiple projects funded under the Institute.  This post is central to the Institute ensuring the smooth running of all aspects in line with the grant, project and fellow terms and conditions. In collaboration with researchers from Oxford and GSK, you will drive the development of project plans for the joint projects, including identifying risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them. You will also lead in the management of all aspects of the Institute’s finances, including keeping records of resources assigned to projects and will work closely with research managers, administrators, and members of the Institute's committees to assist with finalising research contracts, advising on costing and pricing of research, on Intellectual Property and data issues. 

 It is essential that you hold a postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant area of research, together with extensive experience in strategic and operational management with the ability to demonstrate leadership of complex interrelated scientific projects within a specific functional area. You will have significant project and budget management experience, including projects where budgets exceed £5m, and a proven track record of planning, managing, and controlling projects to ensure the timely delivery within budget. You will possess strong analytical and numerical skills and be a proven leader.  You will be capable of supervising, inspiring,  and motivating multi-disciplinary teams and have the ability and willingness to actively contribute towards developing and improving innovative ways of working and managing projects/ research programs.
