Deadline: 25 Aug 2021

We are inviting applications for a Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work on the within-host evolutionary dynamics, and transmission, of chronic viral infections (HIV and hepatitis C virus). You will be responsible for developing new, and adapting existing, analysis methods and mathematical models to better understand within-host viral evolution and compartmentalisation. You will test hypotheses and analyse data, including viral deep-sequencing data, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate, and contribute to and develop new research ideas. You will act as a source of scientific information and advice to other members of the group and agree clear task objectives, organise, and delegate work to other members of the team and coach other members of the group on specialist methodologies or procedures. You will raise research funds though grant applications.

It is essential that you hold a PhD in quantitative biology or another appropriate science, and have sufficient specialist knowledge in genetics, phylogenetics and/or pathogen dynamics.
