Senior Planning Officer

Updated: 4 days ago
Location: Bristol, ENGLAND
Job Type: PartTime

The Senior Planning Officer at the University of Bristol is part of a small but critical team at the core of the University coordinating its annual Integrated Planning Process on behalf of the University Executive Board. The highly-skilled and professional Planning and Business Intelligence team work together closely to ensure that all elements of the University’s planning processes (e.g. planning student and staff numbers, research income, student tuition fees) align, that decisions are informed by data and insight, and that plans fit within the framework of the University Strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as we plan for the 2024/25 Integrated Planning Process and respond to the emerging priorities of the Vice-Chancellor and her leadership team. Please note that this is a maternity cover position for the substantive post holder.

As a Senior Planning Officer you will support academic faculties and professional services divisions (e.g. Library Services, Human Resources) through the planning process - a first point of contact for questions around processes, documentation and meetings. You will coordinate a series of planning meetings between the faculties and members of the University Executive Board, with responsibility for the agenda and papers, analysis and interpretation of relevant data, briefing the Chair, taking notes and following up on actions.

You will also be responsible for the coordination of a University-wide planning process. This will involve liaising with academic schools and faculties within the University, maintaining detailed records, working closely with other professional services colleagues involved in the same process, and recommending strategy and policy to the University senior management.

As a team player, you will also contribute to the overall running of the Integrated Planning Process and other processes and activities carried out by the team.

  • You are enthusiastic and keen to learn
  • You bring something different to a team whilst respecting and benefitting from the diverse views and experiences of other team members
  • You are confident and comfortable engaging with senior leaders, coordinating organisation-wide processes, and analysing and interpreting complex data and information to influence strategic planning and policy development
  • You are highly motivated, engaged and able to work independently, whilst also being a great team player
  • You have attention to detail but can also see the bigger picture
  • You thrive in a blended working environment, with a mixture of office and home-working and on-line and face-to-face meetings
  • You are interested in gaining a broad view of University strategy, process and operations and a fascinating insight into the activities of academic faculties and professional service divisions.

This job would suit the right candidate interested in gaining a first experience of working at the University or within Higher Education and also internal candidates looking for experience at the heart of the University, potentially on a secondment basis. As a team, we are very supportive of flexible working arrangements and whilst this is a full-time post, we would be open to considering applicants who are seeking a part-time role.

Contract type: Fixed term from the 03/06/24 to 02/06/2025 or earlier return of post holder

Work pattern: Full time

Grade: J

Salary: £41,732 - £46,974

School/Unit: Strategic Planning and Business Intelligence

This advert will close at23:59 GMTon the 28th April

Interviews are anticipated to take place in early may
