This is an exciting opportunity to join the Essex Business School Marketing Team, part of the wider University Marketing and Student Recruitment Team in Communications and External Relations.

The team is responsible for achieving the student number targets for Essex Business School (EBS) for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. EBS is the largest department at the University, with campuses in both Colchester and Southend. The School teaches and researches across five broad areas: accounting; finance and banking; management and marketing; organisation studies and human resource management; and strategy, operations and entrepreneurship. The School is also home to a thriving MBA programme.

Communications and External Relations brings together the main areas involved in leading the University's student recruitment as well as strategic positioning and profile. Engaging with students, staff and stakeholders, the section promotes the University's excellence in research and education, and ensures its profile is communicated in a consistent way.

Duties of the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Essex Business School’s strategic aims and objectives and will play an essential part in achieving growth targets for the school through implementing its student recruitment marketing strategy and plans. Duties will include working closely with the University’s Regional International Office teams to ensure EBS is effectively represented in its priority markets, attending a range of recruitment events in the UK, overseas and online, and co-ordinating activity with our partner HEIs.

Skills and qualifications required

The post-holder will hold a degree or equivalent level of qualification or experience as well as an interest in, and knowledge of, current issues in the higher education sector.

The successful candidate will be a confident public speaker, have previous experience of marketing, including being a competent user of CRM systems, and experience of planning and coordinating workload in a strategic, accountable and organised manner. They will be proactive and be willing to work evenings and weekends and to travel internationally as required. 

This appointment is for a fixed-term until 30 September 2022 in order to provide cover for a permanent member of staff who is absent from work seconded to cover maternity leave.
