Senior Lectureship (Professional Practice Focussed)

Course Lead - Masters for Clinical Associate Psychology (Child)

Part-time (0.8) Permanent

We are very pleased to announce the availability of a part-time senior lecturer post to lead the new Masters Course for Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAP) for children and young people’s mental health.  The course is 18 months in duration (commencing January 2022) and will be closely aligned to the Doctorate Course in Clinical Psychology, a well-established course, with a national reputation for innovative practice. As an apprenticeship, the CAP Course will be delivered in partnership with participating NHS Trusts, to ensure the course reflects the diverse needs of local services and healthcare communities. The appointee will have the opportunity to develop their interests in applied areas of clinical psychology and the post is fairly unique in offering candidates the opportunity to work across academic, research and clinical aspects of the Course, including supervising masters level research.

This is a really exciting time for clinical psychology, with substantial expansion of doctoral and masters level training at RHUL and nationally. The appointee will join a friendly, close-knit team of 13 academic staff and three administrative staff who are committed to training future psychologists to meet the psychological needs of the diverse populations with whom we work across London.  In addition, the masters course will sit within a vibrant Psychology Department, which ranks among the top 10 psychology departments for research in the country. The post is designated as a senior lectureship within the professional practice pathway, which recognises and rewards the applied nature of the work of clinical psychology.   Applicants should have a doctorate in clinical psychology and significant NHS or equivalent clinical psychology experience, with demonstrable skills in supervision, leadership and management related to clinical child psychology.

We offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities. We would be open to accepting applications on a 2-year secondment basis from an NHS Trust.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. A proportion of home working may be possible.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact the DClinPsy Deputy Course Director, Helen Pote ([email protected] ) or Course Lead for the Masters in Clinical Psychology, Lyn Ellett ([email protected]).
