The School

The School of Human and Social Sciences offers a full range of awards from foundation degrees to undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees. Our courses and areas of expertise include Criminology and Policing, Psychology, Education, Addiction Studies, Forensic Science, Nutritional Therapy, Politics and International Relations. Our courses are accredited by professional bodies in the sciences, for example, The British Psychological Society and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Forensic Science is accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, Addiction studies by the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals and the Nutritional studies course by Nutritional Therapy Education Commission (NTEC). We are rated as 3rd in London for psychology courses and 2nd in London for forensic science courses by the Guardian University Guide 2020.

The Role

We are currently seeking to appoint an outstanding Senior Lecturer to develop and lead our teacher training provision at UWL. This is an exciting role for someone who is passionate about teacher education. The successful candidate will establish teacher training at the University of West London and build partnerships with schools and relevant stakeholders. You will be expected to contribute to teaching at all levels from Level 3 to Level 7.  You will provide effective pastoral care and support to our students.   You will contribute to research, knowledge exchange and community engagement activities.  

The Person

You will have experience of delivering high quality teaching on teacher training courses/programmes. You will be passionate about raising the standard of teacher training and familiar with debates about teacher education.  You will relish the opportunity of establishing an innovative new course.  You will have experience of leadership in an educational setting.  You will be familiar with relevant networks essential to the success of teacher education. You will be committed to delivering an outstanding student experienceYou will have a successful track record of research and publications in peer-reviewed journals or demonstrate potential in this area.
