Senior Lecturer Ship Handling & Pilotage Simulation

As an integral part of the Warsash Maritime School, our Ship Handling Centre offers comprehensive, hands-on Ship Handling courses tailored for Maritime Pilots, Master Mariners, Senior Deck Officers, and Managers.

Distinguished by its uniqueness, our Ship Handling Centre stands as the sole facility of its kind in the UK and is among the few worldwide. Its expansive harbour areas, complemented by 19 jetties, allow for the creation of multiple berths, thus providing a diverse array of ship handling scenarios for senior deck officers, captains, and pilots.

Our courses are meticulously designed, utilizing scaled manned models, with a strong emphasis on skill development and a deep understanding of ship behaviour and handling. The training program centres around the demonstration of slow-speed control, a critical aspect of ship handling proficiency.

We are currently seeking applications for the role of Senior Lecturer, responsible for supporting the development and delivery of Ship Handling courses at our Timsbury location. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Maritime Pilotage and Ship Handling, along with exceptional teaching skills. Effective communication, strong interpersonal abilities, and a genuine passion for student learning are essential qualities.

Please note that this role may occasionally require unsocial hours and both UK and international travel.
