The Practice Learning Hub currently has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team as a Senior Lecturer.  We aspire to lead Nursing and Midwifery education, to be the first choice for students and apprentices, colleagues, and employers within Birmingham, across the West Midlands, nationally and globally. The School of Nursing and Midwifery will inspire students and apprentices to transform their lives and the health of the people they care for.

The successful applicant will lead on offering support to our students in addressing their individual practice learning needs and on preparing our students for their practice learning experiences. They will work in close partnership with our local and regional practice learning partners to continue to increase and diversify our practice learning opportunities for all of our students.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be part of the Practice Learning Hub and as part of the team, you will:

  • Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes in accordance with the University’s strategy, policies and procedures.
  • Be supported in developing research, enterprise and scholarly activities that are integral to the role.
  • Assess learners’ attainment of relevant knowledge and skills across a range of informal and formal methods.
  • Provide pastoral support, enabling students to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University.

Applicants must hold a degree and current registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse. You will be required to demonstrate relevant and current experience in teaching and supporting undergraduate students in clinical and educational settings.   Successful applicants will be fully funded and supported through our teacher training apprenticeship, including full support for study attendance, and the allocation of a dedicated mentor to support them through the learning requirements. We have a strong record of supporting colleagues through the transition into higher education and we pride ourselves on the support that we offer our colleagues.
