Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to study right in the heart of the city.  The Department of Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing, currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our team as a Senior Lecturer.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will: 

  • Take responsibility for managing taught programmes, including oversight of day-to-day operational processes (e.g. assessment, examination systems) and programme accreditation processes.
  • Ensure that programme design and delivery comply with the quality standards and regulations of the University.
  • Contribute to the development of academic processes across the institution.
  • Design & Develop Module Content & Lectures across the BSc/Msci Nursing Programmes and the Nurse Apprenticeship course.
  • Develop and apply inspiring teaching techniques and content which foster enthusiasm, understanding and critical enquiry amongst students.
  • Develop assessments to test learner’s attainment of relevant knowledge and skills across a range of informal and formal methods.
  • Develop internal and external networks.
  • Provide pastoral and academic support, enabling students to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University.
  • Be supported to develop research, enterprise and scholarly activities, which are integral to the role.

Applicants must hold a degree and current registration with the NMC as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. You will be required to demonstrate relevant and current experience of teaching and supporting undergraduate students in clinical and educational settings.  Therefore, previous teaching experience in a Higher Education or clinical setting is essential.  Successful applicants will be fully funded and supported through our own teacher training apprenticeship including; full support for study attendance, and the allocation of a dedicated mentor to support them through the learning requirements.
