The Role

The School of Engineering seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with ambition, expertise and passion to be part of our academic team delivering the portfolio of innovative courses in the school.

This post will involve module development and delivery on undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the School of Engineering. The postholder should possess the ability to teach various topics within the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which may include, but are not restricted to subjects such as Electrical Engineering Principles, Signal and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Image and Video processing, Sustainability and Professional Engineering.

You will be creating engaging learning material for Electrical and Electronic Engineering and will join an interdisciplinary team to supervise, support and advise on student projects and pursue active collaborations with industry and other partner organisations. 

There will be an opportunity to actively support you in maintaining your professional profile - so crucial for the delivery of the courses - including by collaborative efforts and sharing expertise within the team of specialist lecturers. The details to be specified later in the process.

The School of Engineering houses state-of-the-art facilities, workshops and library learning resources at our Roehampton Vale campus and Penrhyn Road campus – where you will be engaging in ambitious programmes to innovate the field. The School also pursues academic excellence in other engineering areas such as Aircraft, Aerospace and Mechanical engineering fields with great opportunities for collaboration.


The Person

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate knowledge in the relevant areas of for Electrical and Electronic Engineering and will be ready to adopt and practice innovative pedagogic methods and develop their research potential and professional practice to produce outputs of the standard required for REF submission. It is essential that the candidates have doctoral level qualifications, or their equivalent, with appropriate research or professional practice in their field.

You will have the opportunity to teach on MSc Electronics and Robotics, BEng/MEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BEng/MEng (Hons) Electronic Products Engineering courses and modules offered by the subject group as required.

The provision of high-quality, student-centred, innovative teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will be the main focus. You will be organizing hands-on workshops, practical demonstrations, videos, and group projects to provide students with practical experience in various industry-standard software, tools, and techniques. You will participate in relevant research and professional practice, contributing to the advancement of the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and promoting interdisciplinary approaches.

By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £48,251 per annum.
