This full-time post is available from 1 September 2022 on a permanent basis in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

The Graduate School of Education (GSE) is one of the UK’s leading centres for educational research and teaching. In the REF 2021 100% of our Education research was rated as internationally excellent in terms of impact. With a large and innovative portfolio of national and internationally focused postgraduate taught and research programmes, it is extremely well placed to thrive over the coming years. A 2017 OFSTED inspection re-affirmed GSE’s status as an ‘outstanding’ provider of initial teacher education and training and it is currently enacting ambitious plans for the development of both its research and teaching programmes. We welcome colleagues who seek to promote and maintain a collegial working atmosphere and academically stimulating environment that will be attractive to and supportive of fellow academic and professional service staff and research students.  

The role

This post is primarily to support research and teaching activities in Education. The post holder will be an innovative researcher, in an area which aligns with one of our existing research centres or networks, with a strong and current record of research funding and international quality publications. We are particularly keen to appoint a colleague who would be able to contribute to our core MA Education modules (e.g. International Education, Education Studies, Understanding Learning, Education Policy). Quantitative research expertise (and ability to contribute to related taught modules) is also desirable.

About you

For a Senior Lecturer post you will have:

  • A PhD in Education and an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research (an area which relates to our existing departmental research interests and expertise)
  • A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality postgraduate programmes
  • Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
  • Involvement in projects which develop impact
  • A strong potential for research leadership
  • A track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture
  • Relationships with external organisations and funders/ and knowledge and experience of key sectors or business challenges
