Summary of the role
The University of Exeter is seeking to make an appointment in Water Systems Engineering within the Department of Engineering. The University welcomes applications which build on Exeter’s internationally-recognised research strengths in this area and face our research and teaching needs within the department.
The position of Senior Lecturer in Water Systems Engineering will be based in the Centre for Water Systems (CWS) directed by Professor Slobodan Djordjević and Professor David Butler FREng (http://emps.exeter.ac.uk/engineering/research/cws/ ). CWS is part of the Engineering Department, led by Professor Ion Sucala (www.exeter.ac.uk/engineering ). Engineering currently has over 90 academic staff across our Exeter (Streatham) and Cornwall (Penryn) campuses. Academics in Streatham have particular expertise in simulation, optimisation and machine learning, water systems engineering, computational analysis, nano-engineering, vibration engineering, materials and manufacturing and biomedical engineering. Our work in Penryn is mainly focused on renewable energy engineering.
Applicants for this post will have:
- A PhD or equivalent in Civil, Water or Environmental Engineering or other relevant subject and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research;
- A significant potential for research leadership;
- A strong track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture;
- Enthusiasm and ability to teach modules in Water Systems Engineering and beyond;
- Relationships with external organisations and funders, and knowledge and experience of key sectors or business challenges.
