Senior Lecturer Counselling Psychology

The Faculty of Life Sciences and Education is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer (part-time, 2 days per week) to join the School of Psychology and Therapeutic Studies. The successful applicant will primarily support our Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, delivering quality learning and teaching, supervision of research students and overseeing the research pathway and trajectory for our students.  The successful candidate will be an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist.

This is an opportunity to join a vibrant and enthusiastic team, which encompasses a wide range of counselling and psychotherapy approaches, as well as key psychology, leadership and research competencies.  This job opportunity may suit you if you are an experienced counselling practitioner psychologist with current knowledge of, and commitment to the subject area, professional sector and embedding best practice with trainees. You will be professionally registered and/or accredited by the BACP or equivalent counselling or psychotherapy professional body. Experience of teaching in Higher Education is preferred. Interest in developing your research profile and that of others is a strong advantage.

The course is based at our light and modern Newport City Centre Campus, which has excellent public transport links. Students benefit from placements in our in-house counselling services and a purpose-built counselling clinic used by both courses and services, as well as a strong range of placement partners and agencies across Wales and beyond.

This is a part time (0.4 FTE, 14.8 hours per week), permanent post. This position is based at the Newport Campus of the University of South Wales.
