Job description

Turning Passion into Purpose. London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science (Pharmacology) within our School of Applied Science.

 

This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to join a friendly Biomedical Science team who will help and support them to develop their skills and develop professionally. As a Senior Lecturer on Biomedical Science, you will be expected to carry out core activities in three areas: learning and teaching; research, knowledge transfer and professional impact; and administration, management, leadership, and citizenship. You will have a place in an existing established cancer biology and therapy research group and is expected to contribute to the research outputs to enhance the school’s REF 2028 output. You will also carry out teaching, tutoring, research, administrative duties, and any other duties as required by the Dean of the School / the Head of Division of Human Sciences.

 

About You:
We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:

 

  • A PhD in Pharmacology or in another area of relevant biomedical science or have relevant research experience in Pharmacology after gaining a PhD in another discipline is required.
  • Experience in curriculum development of Pharmacology courses. and in working with professional accreditation bodies, with established links within the pharmaceutical industry to facilitate placements, and research collaborations.
  • A publication record that is consistent with the level of experience that demonstrates the ability to produce high quality publications.
  • Experience in winning grants from industry or research funding bodies as PI or co-PI.
  • Experience in teaching Pharmacology, Drug design and development or relevant field at HE level that demonstrates excellence and innovation, the ability to motivate and engage students, and to facilitate their learning using a variety of learning and teaching methods.

 

Ideally you will also have prior work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, and in course leadership, as well as experience with accreditation or developing accreditation documents of Pharmacology courses for accreditation by relevant PSRBs.

Fellowship of the HEA or a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (or equivalent) is also desirable, as is knowledge of the contemporary context of pharmacology/pharmaceutical sciences in relation to practice.
