As we launch our new strategy and roll out an exciting new brand proposition, we are looking for a full time Senior Internal Communications Officer to join the Communications Team at Edinburgh Napier University.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, this is a key position responsible for the development of innovative, engaging and purposeful communications for our staff community. You’ll develop activities across platforms such as our intranet and email, through our enterprise social network, and deliver online and in-person events with senior leaders.

You’ll join an ambitious and results-driven Communications Team within the Marketing & External Relations Department. We act as a strategic service that is integral to the delivery of the University's Strategy by providing innovative and expert communications advice and services.

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in making our staff feel informed, engaged, involved and valued. Through the development and delivery of a University-wide staff communications strategy, you’ll assess current levels of engagement and use innovative techniques to extend our reach and impact and help move and motivate our audiences to action, ensuring our 1,500 staff are fully engaged and informed at every stage of our journey.

You’ll support the University Leadership Team to stay connected with staff, support large-scale change initiatives and strategic projects, and provide expert guidance to a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll also possess excellent interpersonal skills, generating trust and confidence among staff at all levels including senior management.

Who we’re looking for

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • A solid understanding of digital technologies and channels used in internal communications and how to deploy them effectively
  • High level of oral and written communication skills with excellent editing and proof-reading skills
  • Substantial evidence of specialist knowledge and ongoing education relevant to staff communication
  • An ability to think strategically and produce organisation wide communication plans, which clearly support University goals and priorities
  • Excellent advisory skills and the confidence to give advice and information to senior managers on communications issues
  • A demonstrably strong customer service ethic with a willingness to think and work flexibly with colleagues to deliver the best solution
  • Experience of effectively managing a range of competing priorities and stakeholders
  • Self-motivation and the drive and perseverance to work on own initiative.

Benefits We Offer

Salary: £33,309 – £39,739 per annum (Grade 5)
