THIS ROLE IS FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent Senior HR Officer in the Department of Chemistry. Reporting to the Deputy Head of HR you will focus on the day-to-day operation of HR in the Department and assist with supervising the other HR Officers in the team. You will work closely with line managers, providing advice and support as well as performing and overseeing end to end processes in relation to the employee life cycle.
There is a strong recruitment focus to the role but you will be expected to provide a range of generalist HR support, including employee relations and providing policy assistance in relation to the University’s processes and procedures as well as working on ad hoc projects and process improvements as directed by the Deputy Head of HR and Head of HR.
About You
You will be an enthusiastic HR professional with experience of working in an HR team and managing HR processes within the University of Oxford or a similar complex organisation. You will be qualified or working toward CIPD level 5, or have equivalent experience. You will have sound knowledge and experience of the application of UK employment law and Home Office regulations for Visas. Experience of operating HR information systems (particularly PeopleXD) and producing management information reports is essential. You will also possess the ability to clearly and accurately communicate processes and procedures verbally and in writing.
Ideally you will also have experience of managing or supervising staff.
About us
We are a large and vibrant community of people made up of academics, teaching, research and support staff and students from a wide variety of backgrounds. We share the common goal to further the discipline of chemistry and its positive impact on society through excellence in teaching and research.
The Department of Chemistry is committed to equality and valuing diversity and welcomes applications from minority groups.
What We Offer
You would be part of a dynamic and supportive HR Team in a department that supports and encourages professional development and training. The University also offers a wide range of benefits including an excellent contributory pension scheme, 38 days annual leave and a range of family friendly benefits.
The post is located at the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford and we would be happy to discuss hybrid working arrangements.
Application Process
You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.
Only applications received before midday on Monday 22 April 2024 be considered. Interviews will be held shortly after the closing date.
