Responsible to the Team Leader (Horticultural Displays) the role holder will be responsible for caring for predominantly herbaceous plantings, displays and collections within the Garden's Western areas (eighteenth century Garden). See Further Particulars for details and requirements.
The role holders will lead on the maintenance, care and curation of the Garden's displays and be forward thinking regarding development and future maintenance of the Garden, assisting the Team Leader (Horticultural Displays) to plan and program a year round horticultural display, in line with the Garden's Living Collection Strategy, and also as an important visitor attraction within Cambridge and in support of the Garden's core activities, eg University teaching and research, education and amenity.
Practical horticultural skills with several year's relevant professional experience are essential, as well as excellent plant knowledge and an understanding of the management of herbaceous plantings. This role will supervise one assistant horticulturist plus trainees and volunteers.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
