Are you Interested in working for a world top 100 university? We have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering for an experienced technician. You will work in a well-connected team with world-leading reputation.

You will provide comprehensive technical support in the Cements@Sheffield Research Centre and the Centre for Experimental Thermodynamics (CETUK), and occasionally to other departmental work activities You will conduct equipment installation and logistics and provide inductions and training to students and researchers on the use of equipment and in experimental, mechanical, and instrument-based operations such as thermal processing, material characterization, safe use of chemicals, and good laboratory practice. You will ensure that laboratory activities are conducted in a safe and responsible manner, including maintaining and ordering necessary laboratory consumables and sundries. 

You will be tasked with ensuring that all installed systems are maintained and legally compliant to meet insurance requirements through production of Risk Assessments (RA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR), COSHH forms, etc.

The position is offered as a fixed term appointment, with an end date of 31 January 2026, and with a target start date of 1st of June 2022 (or as soon as possible thereafter). It is planned that interviews and other selection action will be held in April 2022 in Sheffield or remotely. Full details will be provided to invited candidates.
