The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre is looking for a Senior Engineer in Product Design with proven technical knowledge and experience who are excited to work in a centre that is a global destination for technology and innovation.

We are recruiting to build our engineering teams in Smart Design to support the development of innovative and emerging industry-focussed solutions.

As Senior Engineer you will apply your specialist knowledge and experience of methods and processes, to generate innovative research outputs. You will work collaboratively with your team, industry, technology providers, national technology centres and academia to deliver key projects focused on advanced manufacturing.

This role is aimed at candidates with relevant experience in an industrial or academic research & innovation environment.

The post will be appointed for 3 years in the first instance. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • Honours degree or equivalent in computing, engineering or a related discipline with significant relevant industrial experience OR minimum HND in a related discipline with extensive recent and relevant industrial experience
  • Demonstrable experience and in-depth knowledge in the application of design technology as evidenced by a broad portfolio of design and prototyping projects .
  • Experience in a range of Industrial Digital Technologies relating to smart design.
  • Demonstrable evidence of working within multifaceted environments delivering to deadlines and within budget. 
  • Experience of using research/industrial tools and techniques resulting in high quality projects and technical reports.
