The Digital Education Office (DEO) at the University of Bristol helps people throughout the University to use technology to enhance learning, teaching and assessment. We are recruiting for Senior Digital Education Developers to join our Digital Practice Development team.
The role
Senior Digital Education Developers work in various specialist areas within the DEO, but have opportunities to develop or change their focus to meet emerging strategic and operational priorities. They provide leadership in key areas of digital practice and for colleagues within working groups or as line managers. This role will sit within the Practice Development team, and will focus on learning and instructional design. We are seeking experienced instructional designers or learning technologists with experience of leading and supporting the development of online and blended learning to better support teaching and the student experience. However, there is opportunity for the postholder to be involved with various aspects of digital education development, including assessment, student experience and staff development.
There are four positions available, please state in your application which role you are interested in:
- x2 full-time, open-ended
- x1 full-time, open-ended with fixed funding
- x1 full-time, fixed-term maternity cover until 31/12/2024
- Advising on best practice in online, blended and digital learning design, based on pedagogical and design theory
- Analysing individual, school or faculty educational needs and providing expert guidance on appropriate digital approaches
- Leading assigned projects to support development and enhancement of digital approaches
- Researching, evaluating and reporting on new or enhanced pedagogic approaches and tools
- Designing and delivering training and support materials
- Contributing to committees, project boards, and working groups as appropriate, including in the development of policy relating to digital education
- Overseeing the work of other staff and/or student interns as appropriate
- Contributing to team planning
- You possess expert knowledge and experience relating to digital education, particularly experience of designing high quality learning experiences in VLEs
- You have a good understanding of learning theories and pedagogies which relate to digital education, and can apply these theories in practice
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills
- You can demonstrate your ability to engage and develop relationships with key stakeholders effectively and appropriately
- You have experience of designing and delivering staff development and/or training, online and/or face-to-face
- You have experience of working on large-scale projects, for example across a university, in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- You can meet deadlines, work independently and as part of a team, and manage your own workload
- You have a flexible, adaptable approach, work with great attention to detail and can drive forward positive change
Contract type: Open ended/Fixed-term
Work pattern: Full-time
Grade: J
Salary: £41,732-£46,974 per annum, pro rata for part-time
