The opportunity

We are looking to recruit a Senior Designer to join the growing Brand and Creative team at University of the Arts London.

In this role, you will spearhead our design initiatives alongside our Senior Designer and Senior UI Designer. You'll be the driving force behind a team of talented Mid-Weight and Junior Designers, crafting captivating creative responses to a variety of digital and print design projects from multiple stakeholders across the University. Your keen eye for detail will ensure the seamless integration of our brand identity within design projects across the organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Creative, you'll unite internal and external design resources, facilitating robust discussions and coordination to elevate the use of our brand in UAL's design output. Additionally, you'll contribute to UAL's overarching brand development efforts, aligning all design work with the institution's forward-thinking 10-year strategy published in March 2022.

About you

  • A strategic designer and an excellent communicator with the confidence to deliver design leadership across a large and complex organisation.
  • Good understanding of UX/UI/Digital product design principles.
  • Significant experience in a similar role within an in-house or agency environment.
  • A proven track record of leading successful brand development initiatives and a strong portfolio of commercial design work.
  • Significant experience in designing for digital platforms and communication channels as well as liaising with external printers.
  • Relevant experience in your own area of work, can answer colleagues’ questions and is able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing, adapting messages for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way.
  • Able to motivate and lead a team effectively, setting clear objectives to manage performance.

As part of your application, please add a link to, or as an additional document, upload your portfolio of 3-5 examples of work which demonstrate why you are a good fit for this role. Maximum portfolio attachment size is: 8MB.
