We have an exciting opportunity to join the IT Services Department as a Senior Network Operations Technician working mainly out of our Banbury Road Offices 

IT Services is a key department that ensures that the University has robust, reliable and high-performing IT facilities it requires to support the distinctive needs of those engaged in teaching, learning, research and administration. The Data Centre and Network Operations Team is responsible for the plant and equipment delivering enterprise level data centre and network services to the University of Oxford

About the Role 

You will be a member of a close-knit team who manage, install, and maintain the network infrastructure and shared datacentre facilities providing a world class service to the University of Oxford, including switches, routers and the fibre optic cabling systems that connects them across the city. 

Your day-to-day tasks will include configuration and installation of networking and data centre equipment, fibre optic patching and ensuring relevant documentation is kept accurate and up to date. 

About You 

A good background knowledge of networking hardware and software, combined with good interpersonal skills are essential pre-requisites for applicants to this post. The role will suit a highly motivated individual with proven flexibility and initiative as well as a keen sense of diplomacy. 

Prior experience working with enterprise class network equipment and fibre optic cabling systems is highly desirable, as is the ability to provide a good service to all members of the University. For a good candidate with less relevant experience, we would consider offering the post as a Grade 5 (£28,759 - £33,996p.a.) initially, with review.
