Applications are invited for Senior Computational Scientists to work in the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (CSCI). The Institute is a world-leading centre for stem cell research with a mission to transform human health through a deep understanding of stem and progenitor cell biology (http://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk ). The CSCI has secured prestigious funding from Wellcome for a Discovery Research Tissue Scale Biology Platform, which will commence in July 2024.

The Platform will create a new Senior Technologist Team which includes openings for 3 new Senior Computational Scientists. We welcome applications from individuals with specialist experience in the following areas:

i. Computational Tissue Modelling ii. Bioinformatics iii. Computational Image Analysis

Roles are based in the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

Post holders will carry out independent research that will complement that of other senior researchers within the Platform to support delivery of Platform research objectives. This will include leading, planning and developing own research ideas, to inform and support Platform projects and aims; conducting collaborative research projects, contributing to the design of new research grant applications, and co- supervising PhD and other students as required. The post holder will assess, evaluate and interpret outcomes of research, routinely communicating conceptual and complex ideas, both to peers and colleagues, and also to those with a limited knowledge and understanding of the topic area. They will collaborate actively within and outside of the CSCI to complete research projects requiring advanced thinking, developing links with relevant colleagues and networks as required.

These posts would be ideal for candidates with a minimum of 3 years relevant post-doctoral experience and distinctive research achievements. Individuals should possess sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in their discipline and of research methods and techniques to develop research objectives, projects and proposals. Interdisciplinary and collaborative research is strongly encouraged across the University and its associated institutes. The Platform will capitalise on existing and new interdisciplinary collaborations within its multi-disciplinary team.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 June 2031 in the first instance.
