Manchester University Press (MUP) is looking for a Senior Commissioning Editor (Social Sciences) to join their Editorial (acquisitions) team. Based in Manchester, MUP publishes intellectually rigorous and thought-provoking books that engage with contemporary social, cultural, environmental and political issues. This role will be central to the continued development of the MUP Social Sciences list, identifying and bringing in book projects that reflect the most exciting new research across Sociology, Economics, Anthropology, STS, Human Geography and related subject areas.  This will be an unrivalled opportunity for a talented editor to join a growing press with an established team, based in one of the UK’s most vibrant cities.

The successful candidate will have experience in commissioning Social Sciences titles, preferably for both academic and trade audiences. They will have an established network of contacts in relevant fields and be skilled in developing new author relationships. They will be both creative and collaborative, able to work within a close-knit team to generate and develop new ideas and leads, and happy to pursue them. They will combine the ability to meet deadlines and keep a busy list organised with a talent for problem solving and making things happen.

Hybrid and remote working will be considered for this role.
