Senior Acquisitions and Cataloguing Assistant (Asian and Middle Eastern Technical Services)

The Bodleian Libraries are seeking to appoint a Senior Library Assistant to join the Asian and Middle Eastern Technical Services Team, which sits within Collections and Resource Description (C&RD), which in turn sits within Collections Management. 

You will be responsible for the acquisitions and cataloguing of approximately 10,000 titles or volumes mainly in various Chinese language groups, per year. You will carry out technical services work (particularly acquisitions and cataloguing) for East Asian material. You will be required to do some other technical work like serials check-in and materials processing as well. 

You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team to support the delivery of a high-quality library and information service for those studying and researching in East Asian languages. Good knowledge of spoken and written Chinese is essential and knowledge of other East Asian languages desirable.

This is a permanent, full-time position, working 36.5 hours per week.

This role will involve manual handling.
