The School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE) seeks to appoint a Research Support and Facilitation Officer to join our friendly and collaborative Research support and facilitation team (RSF). This is an exciting opportunity to be a part as the RSF team is part of the wider departmental Professional Services team offering services across large, vibrant and research-intensive department. The role will primarily support the research activities of the School of Geography and the Environment including supporting the preparation and submission of grant applications to a wide range of funders, post-award administration, administration of the school’s ethics review process, assisting with engagement and impact activities, administering related departmental committees and assisting with the departmental REF submission. The role will involve working to strict deadlines and responding to the needs of SoGE’s academic and research staff.
Reporting to The Head of Research Support and Facilitation
To be successful, you will need to have a friendly ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to integrate into the Research Facilitation team. You will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt and build rapport to communicate clearly and appropriately with staff at all levels. High quality organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple work streams and prioritise as necessary. With strong initiative, capable of suggesting improvements to systems and processes and working with senior staff to maximise efficiency. Excellent numeracy, including creation of budgets and financial scenarios as well as proficiency with the University’s costing and pricing system X5.
