The Opportunity:

The Cellular Genetics Programme  is seeking a scientific manager to support the research activities being undertaken in Sam Behjati’s  faculty group.

About Us:

The team is interested in the developmental origins of cancer, especially of childhood cancer. The team uses cutting edge single cell techniques to understand normal human development and how normal development relates to disease.  Focussing on understanding and quantifying the nature and origins of cancer cells, particularly childhood cancers. 

About the Role:

You would be involved in managing the scientific activities of the Behjati faculty team, duties of the role would include:

  • Project management of a diverse portfolio of research studies - understanding project requirements and monitoring project progression
  • Understanding the funding and scope of each project, ensuring all work is carried out according to the Institute’s research policies
  • Liaising with external collaborators regarding sample availability, organising the logistics required for the processing of each sample cohort
  • Assisting with the delivery of laboratory support by processing samples for single cell or nuclei RNAseq, preparing samples for spatial genomic analysis, etc.,
  • Submitting samples to operations teams for analysis and monitoring data generation.

You will work within the Cellular Genetics Wet Lab Support Team and closely collaborate with the operations teams within the Cancer Aging and Somatic Mutations (CASM) Programme; ensuring all scientific activities of the Behjati group run smoothly and in compliance with Institute policies.

About You:

You will have in-depth scientific knowledge with understanding and experience of various molecular biology techniques. You will be able to build collaborative working relationships and share knowledge with a range of stakeholders.
