About the role
This role is open internally to King's Employee's only.

The School of Politics and Economics (SPE) is looking for a motivated and innovative manager to join the Professional Services team. The Programme Manager (PM) will play a vital role in SPE, leading a dynamic team and collaborating with Professional Services and academic colleagues to deliver high-quality taught programmes. The post-holder will oversee and support administrative services that contribute to programme delivery, ensuring processes are appropriate and effective, service is efficient, and School and College policies are followed. The Programme Manager will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring students receive an excellent learning experience and that all stakeholders receive a very high level of customer support. The Programme Manager will be expected to bring a mindset of continuous improvement and an ability to analyse, develop and implement processes and systems that will lead to enhancement and efficiencies to our services.  The role involves line management of Programme Officers and Senior Programme Officers, allocating staff resource to ensure consistent and continued service delivery, and developing and delivering training to enable and embed service resilience and succession planning. The Programme Manager will also represent the School in wider university activities and committees in support of the School’s interests and engage with central university functions. They will use their leadership skills and positive attitude to inspire and motivate their team, embedding a shared sense of purpose and engaging with the vision for the university and the School.

This is a full-time post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract.


About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, and substantial operational and administrative experience working on degree Programmes gained in a Higher Education environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and developing high performing teams, including experience of managing change, setting standards, motivating staff and performance management while developing and maintaining a positive culture of continual review.
  • Proven excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and delegate tasks appropriately while working towards and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to communicate at all levels to a diverse group including the ability to draft documents and translate complex regulations, processes, and information to a wide audience.
  • Experience in developing and implementing effective policies and procedures with a proactive approach, working independently, and exercising professional judgement.
  • Excellent analytical and information processing skills including the ability to assimilate large and complex sets of information quickly and accurately.
  • Resilient with the ability to work under pressure while always maintaining confidentiality and a strong commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS)
  • Experience in the use of virtual learning environments
